The
Code For Sustainable Homes
The governments ‘Code for Sustainable
Homes’ measures the sustainability
of a new home against nine categories of
sustainable design, rating the 'whole home'
as a complete package. The Code uses a 1
to 6 star rating system to communicate the
overall sustainability performance of a property.
The Code sets minimum standards for energy
and water use at each level and, within England,
replaces the ‘EcoHomes’ scheme,
developed by the Building Research Establishment
(BRE).
From 1st May 2008, all new-build properties
in the UK must adhere to a mandatory rating
against the new ‘Code for Sustainable
Homes’.
We
can design and build a property to any level
of the 'Code for Sustainable Homes' and we
are currently one of the only companies in
the North East already building iin line
with the new code.
